Study Published Into Nationally, Regionally and Sub-Regionally Significant Waste Management Facilities

Griffin Hill Ltd working jointly with Urban Mines Ltd was commissioned by 4NW, on behalf of the NW Regional Technical Advisory Body, to undertake a study to develop the pattern for nationally, regionally and sub-regionally significant waste management facilities. This work supersedes the original work completed in October 2007 by Jacobs.

As well as evaluating the success of the project, the report identifies the barriers experienced by Northwest Local Authorities which had led to inactivity and makes recommendations for their resolution.

Northwest Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP)

The North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership is a brand new partnership formed from the merging of the North West Centre of Excellence and the North West Improvement Network. The Partnership is funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government and will work with councils from the region to deliver a three-year strategy, which includes assisting Local Strategic Partnerships to deliver carbon reductions.

Northwest Business Environment Awards 2008 honours Joe Dwek as Environmental Leadership Champion.

The region's most outstanding environmental practices were honoured at the Northwest Business Environment Awards 2008. Prizes were given for best environmental practice, built environment, sustainable procurement, environmental innovation and environmental communications. A special award to honour the champion of environmental leadership was awarded to Joe Dwek for his contribution to the sector.
