North West Sustainable Development Group (NWSDG)

Welcome to the web site of the NWSDG. You can find information about the group, the initiatives it has supported and sustainable development in the Northwest of England.

Formation of the Group

In response to the report 'Sustaining the regions' futures' the Northwest regional governance organisations initiated a regional sustainable development group to champion the principles of sustainable development in the region. A set of Terms of Reference and Composition and Procedures relating to a proposed new Sustainable Development Group for the North West can be found in the documents section of this web site. The first meeting of the Sustainable Development Group was held on the 28th of September 2007, at which Anne Selby was voted Chair and Hilary Burrage the Vice-Chair.

A list of members and ex-officio appointments can be viewed from the group membership page accessed from the menu on the left. Copies of papers and minutes of the meetings which have taken place are available from the documents page.

All visitors to the site can view the content, download documents and view discussions in the forum (bulletin board). If you want to be able to contribute to the forum, or take part in on-line meetings, then you will need to become an Associate Member of the group. To do this, please apply by completing the form on the contact page.

The site also contains useful regional and national web links, facts and figures about sustainable development in the Northwest, news from the group and recent press releases.
